The 332 Squadron is a historical Norwegian squadron from WWII.
Two Norwegian fighter squadrons were established in England during World War II, 331 Squadron on July 21, 1941 and 332 Squadron on January 15, 1942. Both squadrons were equipped with Spitfires, and they shot down altogether 116 enemy planes. A further 34 were recorded as probably shot down, and 124 were damaged. After the war, the squadrons were transferred to Norway, and the final flight of a Norwegian Air force Spitfire took place on March 25, 1954.

332nd Fighter Group
Due to the rigid pattern of racial segregation that prevailed in the United States during World War II, over 1300 Black military aviators were trained at an isolated training complex near the town of Tuskegee, Alabama and at Tuskegee Institute now known as Tuskegee University. Four hundred and fifty black fighter pilots under the command of Col Benjamin O. Davis, Jr., (who was later to become the U.S. Air Forces first black general) fought in the aerial war over North Africa, Sicily and Europe flying in secession, P-40,P-39,-P-47 and P-51 type aircraft. These gallant men flew 1,553 sorties and completed 1578 missions with the 12th Tactical U.S. Army Air Force and the 15th Strategic Army Air Forces. They were called the 'Schwartze volelmenschen" (Black Bird men) by the Germans who both feared and respected them. White American bomber crews reverently referred to them as "The Red tail Angels" because of the identifying red paint on their nose and tail assemblies and because of their reputation for not losing bombers to enemy fighters as they provided fighter escort to bombing missions over strategic targets in Europe.

The 99th Fighter Squadron which had already distinguished itself over North Africa, Sicily, and Anzio, was joined with three more black squadrons; the 100th , the 301st,and the 302nd to be designated as the 332nd Fighter Group. Flying from Italian bases they also destroyed enemy rail traffic, coast watching surveillance stations and hundreds of vehicles on air to ground strafing missions. Sixty-six of these pilots were killed in aircraft accidents or in aerial combat while another thirty-two were shot down and captured as prisoners of war. They destroyed or damaged over 409 German aircraft, (111 in the air) over 950 units of ground transportation, and Gwynn Pierson leading a flight of four P-47's sank a destroyer with machine gun fire, which was a distinctive achievement. Not one friendly bomber was lost to enemy aircraft attack during the 200 escort missions. This success was unique because no other fighter unit with nearly as many missions could make the same claim. On March 24, 1945, Roscoe C. Brown, Jr., Charles Brantly and Earl Lane, each shot down a German ME-262 jet fighter aircraft.

These Black Airmen came home with 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses, a Legion of Merit, 744 Air Medals,8 Purple Hearts, 2 Soldiers Medals,14 Bronze Stars, and a Red Star of Yugoslavia.

332 Viking Squadron
The "332 Viking Squadron" was Created her in Aces High in September 2001 by "GA". We were 3 Norwegian friends who played together for fun, Cybo, Tore, and Me(GA).
The Name 332 Viking Squadron was put together with ideas around the Real "332 Squadron" who was a Norwegian fighter Squadron flying Spitfires and Hurricanes under WWII from Great Britain, since Norway were invaded from the Germans.
The real "332 Squadron" of today is flying F-16 and have there Base on "Rygge" here in Norway, 10-min drive from were I live. The name "Vikings" in the Squads name was put in because at the time we were only Norwegians in the Squad, and I thought the Viking would be a good name to add, and we Norwegians are the real Vikings you know;). This was the 332 Viking Squadron start into the Online flysim world;).
The idea around making a online flysim Squadron was simply to shear and meet people with the same interest for WWII aviation, and also meet new friends.
Cybo Dropped out after a short time from flying, so "Tore" and I took a short time in on WBII for a 3-4 month change to try out another flysim since Aces High was our First experience with Online Fly sims. After the 3-4 month with WBII "Tore" also dropped out, and I went back to Aces High and start trying to recruiting pilots to the Squad. That was easier said than done;).
The 332nd Mongrels by "Ghost" and "DDog" thought i was a pity sight and felt sorry for me;) and took me under there wings and started training me up;). After 10 missions with the Mongrels I start to get new Ideas, with good help from "Ghosth" and "DadDog". My Idea was to create or use my Squad name 332 Viking Squadron to make a European Squad of the Mongrels here in Europe, because of the big time difference we had with the EST players, since almost all the Mongrels pilots was at EST so for me it was a 8 hour difference in time;).
After Being promoted to 1th. Lieutenant in The Mongrels I packed my bags and waved good bye to my Mongrels comrades with a big load with help and ideas to started building up the Squad. Special thx to "Ghosth" and "DadDog" SALUTE!.
The first thing was to create a web site for the Squadron, and with Good help from my Norwegians close friends "Cybo" and "Pinochi" who are programers;) this things should be a peace of cake i thought;). But I had to think again regarding that web site coming up fast let these guys do it for me. Helping me with the site they would, BUT as they said it we don't want to "slave" type it for you;)so that I had to do by my self. Alrighty then! Ok I though there had to be lots of program out there to use making a web site, yes it is Cybo said with a grin, but you shall do it my way or the highway. So you guys figure it out that Cybo didn't let me use a help program for making the web, no no no, i had to learn al from scratch code it in note pad he said!!, that little shit........:D. These guys have 5-10 years schooling with this Piiiiiiiiiip, and I could not understand a dam shit of this codes...this numbers brackets and stuff floating around on the different pages;). But after a while when i got my head on right track again,or rather Cybo did that;) the web took form and things were looking better.
When the first 332 Viking Squadron web site was finish, i might admit I was proud of my self that I had accomplish my first web site. Ok it was not the best but it was made by ME(grin) and it was my first tho. I thought it was the best site on the web :D, god dam i'm good, yep that was my thoughts then;).
After the web was finish I started active on recruiting pilots for the Viking Squadron, with only 1 in the Squad, and that was ME, it was a rough start to talk pilots over to join my Great Squad, man the Squad had its own web site now;) (so had the other 50 squads also). I finally lurked "Crazy Cat" in to the Squad and after a short time more pilots joined. From that day to this day the Squad have become a Great Squad with Good Team players and fun pilots to fly with, and I have to say that we have become a very Disciplined squad who work together as a team, and that again makes us a good squad with good Organized missions , and then again makes it fun to play;).

The story do sent end here;), i hope that we will be with you others Aviation Online players out there for a long time in to the future;), so in til then the story for the "332 Viking Squadron" continues. See you up in the Skye's Gents;)

PS: Also a big thx to Pinochio who also have helped me allot with this web site regarding hard coding regarding PHP/ASP that makes the Auto Rank and medals system work thank you mate ;).
